A Note From Our President, Kenneth Dunder…

Hydrokinetic Systems, Incorporated formed in April of 1983 to produce a heat recovery system for the photo industry. Hydrokinetic Systems, Inc. designed the system to produce a cost-effective energy and heat recovery package. The system worked and a company was born. It was a one or two person show for several years. Hydrokinetic System, Inc. did projects, I realize now, just to prove Hydrokinetic Systems, Inc. could do them. Hydrokinetic Systems, Inc. certainly didn't make any money as we committed just about every business error possible. Thanks to the strong dedication and work of those involved, Hydrokinetic Systems, Inc. survived.

Hydrokinetic Systems, Inc. designed a product from a custom system, made it work and although changing photo technology outmoded it, we learned valuable lessons in how and how not to design a product, support that product and, mostly, how to assess customer needs and maintain good relationships.

The "Heat Saver" was unable by itself to pay all the bills. Due to my background in chemistry, chemical engineering and instrumentation, I went after projects that had one or more of these elements in them. I have always felt a strong personal sense of responsibility concerning the environment and the effect humans have on our earth. Perhaps because of this, I tended to favor projects that were environmentally sensitive. This led us into bulk storage with all the double containment and hazard prevention entailed therein.

Underlying my environmental concern is a strong personal conviction that as a company Hydrokinetic Systems, Inc. can produce well designed, state-of-the art systems that fill a need, as did the first heat recovery system. Expansion came as Hydrokinetic Systems, Inc. began designing and building waste treatment, chemical feed systems and later, water pre-treatment systems.

I strongly believe that customer satisfaction is paramount to success. I believe that when workers operate and make decisions based on the desire to serve its' patrons the entire company enjoys satisfied customers.

A person always makes the biggest impact functioning as part of a team. A winning team is never selfish and a losing team is always selfish. I believe in the basic dignity of all people and their right to a good environment in which to live and work. An atmosphere that allows individuals to learn, grow and reach their fullest creative potential. The end result is a delighted customer, an improved environment, and a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.
